Sal had his frustrations with Marcus Stroman as a Met fan, and he doesn’t buy that the righty has changed enough for the Yankees to have made a good signing.
“I’m not sure what the Yankees were thinking here. I don’t like this move for Marcus Stroman,” Sal said. “I get he’s a decent pitcher…I’ve always like Stroman as a pitcher. I don’t love this move for the Yankees.”
Citing Stroman’s widely debated social media activity, Sal wonders if that will make Stroman an enemy among Yankee fans, considering he has already feuded with them in the past. BT believes Stroman has matured since then, but Sal isn’t buying it.
“I was a big Marcus Stroman fan…I value the consistency and durability,” Sal said. “He’s made 25-33 starts a year. He’s gonna keep you in a game…I slot him automatically as a No. 3 starter, a plus three starter. However, I heard too many negative things about what went on in the Mets clubhouse, how he was a bad influence on certain guys, and we all know how he is on social media.
“I think he comes from a good place, but I just haven’t seen him act the way I’d hope…he’s still got this ‘Me against the world’ thing, which has been detrimental to his perception, at least on social media, which could bring a negative feel into the clubhouse.”
