Sal rips 'absolutely pathetic' display from Yankees in Subway Series loss

Coming off another loss to the Mets on a night where Jahmai Jones and J.D. Davis hit leadoff and cleanup, respectively, Sal went off on the state of the Yankees, once again reiterating that the team is not salvageable in 2024.

“Absolutely pathetic display from the almighty, greatest-franchise-in-the-history-of-sports New York Yankees,” Sal said. “I want to hear from the people today who tell me I’m nuts for saying that this team is no good.

“How can anyone who has actually watched this team for the last seven weeks think that the Yankees are good when they field the embarrassing lineup that they did [Tuesday]?”

Sal says the lineup was an embarrassment, and offers no protection for the team’s best hitter in Aaron Judge, who was walked four times in Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat. To run out that lineup proves that there are too many holes on this roster, and the team is not worth saving at the trade deadline.

“Those guys shouldn’t be in the big leagues,” Sal said. “If they are, they shouldn’t be in the starting lineup. And if they are in starting lineup, they shouldn’t be batting first or fourth…Severino was right. This is not a team. It’s a two-man show, and if you get one guy out and pitch around the other, you’re gonna win.”
