Sal sounds off on Aaron Boone 'delusion' for praising infield defense
Aaron Boone told Talkin’ Yanks on Wednesday that he sees the Yankees infield defense as a strength of the team, despite the right side of the infield struggling badly in Gleyber Torres and Anthony Rizzo.
Sal says it is the latest piece of evidence that the Yankee manager refuses to express any kind of negativity towards his club, even if it is warranted.
“This is the same delusion he continues to speak with. It’s ridiculous,” Sal said. “Dude, watch the games. If you did, you’d know your team is not good defensively.
“Can you acknowledge that it hasn’t been a plus for you, just because you’re reading the stats? And then he wonders why I call him a data applicator. Come on.”
Sal is tired of Boone’s trend over the years of talking highly of players that are struggling, only for the team to finally make a move that suggests they, like the vocal critics, believe it’s time to make a change. Perhaps the infield defense is the latest in that trend.
“Boone is the same guy that said IKF was a good shortstop before moving him off of shortstop a couple years ago in the playoffs,” Sal said. “They say one thing and then eventually do another.”
