According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees are one of roughly a dozen teams that are interesting in Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who succeeded in a bench role for the Yanks last season after the failed experiment of starting at shortstop in 2022.

Kiner-Falefa would be brought back in a bench role if the Bombers did re-sign him, but Sal says the utility player represents one of the many recent failures by Brian Cashman, after BT praised IKF as a solid bench player that was unfairly a “scapegoat” after his first season in pinstripes.

“He was the starting shortstop for them two years ago,” Sal said. “He’s not a scapegoat. It’s that Brian Cashman is so inept…Brian Cashman wants to fire back at everyone else like we don’t know what we’re talking about, and yet you, Brian, brought in IKF to be the starting shortstop, when I watched him for two seconds like ‘This guy is not a shortstop.’ Yet the Yankees shove him down our throat all year long…and they get mad at us and everybody else. The Astros cheating, the fans and media don’t know what they’re talking about. You’re great, right? All is good, your team is great, and yet you make moves like that. Asinine. And now you want to bring him back. Good.”

BT stressed that Kiner-Falefa would be a depth piece, but Sal is still waiting to see the Yankees go out and be the Yankees after all the rumors and hype regarding their offseason plans.

“Why are you even interested in bringing IKF back? Go get some real players,” Sal said. “Go get Soto, go get Yamamoto, maybe Bellinger as well. Why stop there?”
