Gerrit Cole wasn’t the only superstar Yankee fans were worried about on Monday morning.
After Aaron Boone told reporters that Cole was headed for an MRI to exam his right elbow, Boone added that Aaron Judge would not play until at least Wednesday and was pulled from his scheduled batting practice on Monday due to being “beat up” from his current spring training work.
Judge was pulled after two at-bats in Sunday’s game, and appeared to slightly wince after taking a swing in his final plate appearance on the day.
Boone dismissed it as rest, but Sal isn’t sure he is buying it.
“What does this mean, ‘mid-spring beat up?’” Sal said. “It’s spring! Nobody should be beat up!
“It’s mid March, and you’re worried about being beat up, and you’re gonna be playing him in center field to start the season?”
Sal says the Judge news becomes more concerning the more he thinks about it, and many Yankee fans likely feel the same, as two of the team’s three best players are now in question with Opening Day just weeks away.
