Sal: Yankees are ‘not worth saving,’ should look into selling Juan Soto

Sal declared on Thursday that the Yankees would be better off selling if the trade deadline was the next day.

On Friday, after another loss, he doubled down and said this team needs to sell, and that includes moving Juan Soto.

“They’re cooked. They’re not worth saving. How can you invest in this team?” Sal said. “It’s a lot of different things with this team. They’re not worth investing in.

“Take the emotion out of it…they don’t have a good team.”

The Yankees looked like world beaters through two months of the season, but now, they have been the worst team in baseball over the last few weeks, as cracks are beginning to show with just weeks to go until the trade deadline. Instead of buying and looking to get back on track, Sal says it’s time for a major overhaul.

“The best thing for the baseball team would not be to continue to chase something that is not realistic with this group and their philosophy,” Sal said. “It’s the same thing every year. They’ll try to bring in another star, whether it’s Jazz Chisholm or Vladimir Guerrero, they’ll ring in another starter or reliever, and they’ll talk about Giancarlo Stanton coming back…and it doesn’t work. Year after year, it doesn’t work.

“They’re not gonna do it, but they’d be better off doing it…this team has failed year after year. It’s the same thing. The smarter move to me would be to sell Juan Soto. That’s the piece, because there’s really nothing else.”
