Sal: Yankees cannot win a World Series playing like they have so far in ALCS

Sal Licata was in attendance for Tuesday’s game two in the Bronx, and his response to any Yankee fans expressing confidence in a potential title was simple: “Based on what?”

Sal was hardly impressed with a win in which Gerrit Cole clearly didn’t have his best command, multiple basrunning blunders were made, and more run-scoring opportunities were squandered. If anything, he believes the ALCS has been more about how putrid the Guardian have looked than about how well the Yankees look.

“The Yankees have now played six games in the postseason, and still have not played a solid baseball game,” Sal said. “Certain parts of their game have been good, but overall, I’m still not seeing what I l believe I need to see to believe this team can be a World Series winning team.

“What makes you think, based on the way the Yankees have played not only the majority of the season…but look at the postseason…it’s been since June through the first six games of October, and they still haven’t been able to put forth a great game.”

Sal hasn’t been impressed at all by the Yanks this postseason, and while he believes they will win the pennant and get to the World Series, he says the Bombers may be in for “a rude awakening” against the Dodgers or Mets.

“Why would I believe that, all of a sudden, if the Yankees finish off Cleveland and get themselves to the World Series, that they’re gonna all of a sudden flip a switch?” Sal said. “They will not win a World Series playing like this.”
