The Yankees were blanked by the Orioles on Monday night, only intensifying Sal’s concerns that the offense is still much too similar to its predecessors, despite the addition of Juan Soto.
“I have major concerns about it…how have they gotten shut out five times already?” Sal said. “With a healthy Soto and Judge in the lineup, they’ve been shut out five times!”
The offense has a different look with Soto and Alex Verdugo in the fold, but ultimately, there have still been flashes of past nightmares, with the Yankee bats going quiet against quality pitching. BT says the Yanks will be fine, but Sal says there is reason for big concern.
“It’s the same old stuff with the Yankees,” Sal said. “While they’ll be in the playoffs, can they actually hit in the playoffs? What they do generally in the regular season, they mash and bully the bad teams and bad pitching, and they are shut down by good pitching. It’s unacceptable.”
