Sal is a fan of Jazz Chisholm’s personality, even if some are sceptical of how it plays in the clubhouse. The new Yankee began his tenure by expressing an openness to once again change positions if needed, which Sal said is a far cry from how Gleyber Torres reacted when asked the same question.
“He was like ‘Yeah, whatever needs to happen to help the team win, I’m all for that.’ As opposed to Gleyber Torres, who is like ‘Nah, I’m a second baseman,’” Sal said. “If anything, Jazz is gonna have to play third base on the fly, or they’re gonna have to move Gleyber Torres. Which they should do anyway. The problem is, Gleyber Torres has gotten it going offensively, and he’s showing you what a difference maker he can be in lengthening out that lineup when he’s on.
“But do you think this is what he’s gonna be the rest of the way? Not to mention the airhead plays that happen in the field. If the Yankees are gonna win a World Series, they have to move on from Gleyber Torres. Enough is enough.”
While Sal is ready to move on from Torres, he doesn’t believe Chisholm is the move that puts the Yanks over the top, as he would prefer to see Brian Cashman go for the best fits over the biggest names.
“The Yankees again go after a big name, but was it the best piece to make the team better?” Sal said. “The Yankees need more of those clear needs. Go get them, not just bringing in big names.”
