Sal: Yankees should 'sell whatever they can' if trade deadline was tomorrow

As BT and Sal discussed the state of the Yankees after Wednesday’s win, Sal said he would pull off a shocker and sell if he were Brian Cashman if things don’t drastically change before the trade deadline.

“If I’m evaluating this team right now and the deadline is tomorrow, I’m selling,” Sal said. “I’m selling whatever I can. This team isn’t any good.

“I’m looking to change it up. I can’t double down again. We’ve been down this road with this team plenty of times before. This is not a team that I think is worth investing in.”

The Yankees have posted the worst record in baseball over the last 22 games, after being the best in the league through two-plus months. Sal isn’t waiting on Giancarlo Stanton and Jasson Dominguez to get healthy, and doesn’t buy that those returns, plus some trades, will be enough to get them over the hump.

“I’m not getting fooled again,” Sal said. “I don’t believe they’re good. I don’t think the Yankees are a good team. Starting pitching, bullpen, lineup, I don’t think they can be fixed at the deadline.

“I’m not saying it’s an easy decision. I’m saying it might be the best decision for the team moving forward.”
