Should the Yankees have a ceiling when it comes to an Aaron Judge contract? Tiki and Tierney disagree, though BT says the disagreement only stems from the Yankees’ established business strategy, not because he doesn’t think Judge is worth the massive payday.
“If it was up to me, I would give Aaron Judge $500 million,” BT said. “The problem is, and it’s our problem really, not even the Yankees problem. The Yankees have made this a problem. If you give Judge too much, it would preclude the Yankees, unfortunately, from doing what they need to do to have that parade down the Canyon of Heroes. I love Aaron Judge…he is box office. He is transcendent. He is, for many, larger than life. Kevin Durant is a great player, but he doesn’t resonate the way Aaron Judge does…nobody does.
“I’m all in on the Yankees retaining Aaron Judge, but I’m all in on the Yankees retaining Aaron Judge at a number that doesn’t prevent them from doing other things they need to do to win a championship.”
Meanwhile, Tiki says the Yanks need to outbid the Giants no matter what, and make sure their homegrown superstar is back in pinstripes next season, no matter the cost.
“Pay the man,” Tiki said. “He’s a superstar! Sign Aaron Judge. Give him what he deserves. Go above the Giants…they better take care of him.”
