Aaron Boone's "Savages in the Box" rant will live forever as one of the greatest managerial rants of all-time, thanks in part to Good Samaritans like Twitter All-Star Jomboy, whose breakdown of the rant made it a viral sensation.
Tonight, nearly 14 months after that rant, we finally have a chance for the sequel.
Brennan Miller, the home plate umpire who according to Boone had "a piece of (expletive) start" to the Yankees-Rays game on July 18, 2019, will be behind the plate for Tuesday's Yankees-Blue Jays game in Buffalo, the first time he has called balls and strikes in a Yankees game since Boonie gave birth to a viral catchphrase and "Let Brett Bang" became a battle cry.
Hat tip to Sweeny Murti for noticing the alignment, and noting that Miller's ninth turn behind the plate since then will be his first assignment while on a crew working a Yankees game.
Let's hope that Miller has indeed "f'ing gotten better" and "tightened it up" since then, and that he and Boone are on better terms – although maybe Savages Part Deux is the thing the Yankees need to spark them?
Regardless, in case you've forgotten or just want to see it again, you can relive the original below courtesy of Jomboy on Twitter (warning: graphic language).
