Aaron Judge is a Yankee after all, and likely will be for the rest of his career, reportedly agreeing to a nine-year deal on Wednesday morning following intense speculation the night before that may choose to go home to the Giants.
Safe to say Tiki and Tierney were in a happy mood to open their show on Wednesday, just hours after the news broke of Judge’s deal.
“At the end of the day, he chose us! He chose the stripes, the Stadium, the history, he chose to stay,” BT said. “What a wild ride. This was very close to being among the saddest, most empty, negatively transformational moments in Yankee history. This was close! But Aaron Judge is staying.
“He is an A+ talent, A+ person, A+ box office…and he’s ours for almost a decade.”
Tiki, who had long said the Yankees had to keep Judge, no matter the price, commended Hal Steinbrenner and company for making it happen.
“At the end of the day, the Yankees got it right and respected the superstar that he is,” Tiki said. “He know he wanted to be here, and loves playing in New York.
“Aaron Judge wanted to be a New York Yankee, but the only way he was going to be a New York Yankee is if the Yankees came correct. There’s still a lot they need to do with this team, but for today, you took care of the most important signing, maybe in the last 15 years. Maybe even longer than that.”
