Tiki doesn't understand why Yankees don't call up Estevan Florial: 'Something is off'

As the Yankees starve for production from their left field spot, former hyped prospect Estevan Florial continues to thrive in Triple-A.

The 25-year-old is batting .295 with 21 home runs and a .992 OPS in 66 games with Scranton this season, and Tiki can’t believe the Yanks haven’t tried to get something from Florial at the big league level this year.

“I don’t know why they don’t like him,” Tiki said. “Something is off. He might be the answer because he’s a good outfielder.”

Florial brings speed and quality defense, but despite his impressive offensive numbers in the minors, it has never translated to the majors when he has been given a chance. But after seeing his numbers this season, Tiki couldn’t believe Florial (who is not on the 40-man roster) isn’t being considered, especially with how much the Yanks have needed outfield help.

“What the hell? Wow,” Tiki said, looking at Florial’s stat line. “And he can play the outfield, and isn’t gonna boot it around in left field…it’s at least a year and a half plus that they’re not interested in bringing him up…there’s just no desire to have him be a major leaguer, so what are you doing with him?”
