Tiki: Feels like Yankees are in a 'reposition year,' not an all-in one

As the Yankees continue to stumble towards the trade deadline, Tiki still believes the team will likely add a piece or two by Aug. 1, but it won’t be a seismic blockbuster that some may have expected just weeks ago.

“They’re not good enough right now,” Tiki said. “They’re relying on Giancarlo Stanton, who has been resurgent over the last two weeks, and Gleyber Torres…It just feels more like this is going to be a reposition year as opposed to a ‘let’s take a shot year.’

“The Yankees could be buying, it’s just to what extent.”

So, Tiki isn’t expected Shohei Ohtani or Juan Soto to wind up in pinstripes, but there could still be some marginal moves, at least adding a left fielder. But Sal expects the Yankees to add, because he still believes the Bombers are going to be just fine.

“The Yankees bullpen, if you think that’s gonna be the way they are moving forward, then they’re in big trouble. But it’s not,” Sal said. “It’s an aberration of a series. You throw it out because it was in Colorado, and you move on. Disappointing, but it’s not the end of the world. The Yankees will be just fine.

“Now, if you tell me Judge isn’t coming back and he’s out for the year, it’s a different story…but I still feel like everything is there in front of them.”
