Oswald Peraza is finally on the board.
Peraza, getting the start at shortstop in Game 1 of the Yankees’ doubleheader with the Twins Tuesday, took a 2-0 pitch from fellow rookie Louie Varland and laced it down the left field line for a double, his first MLB hit:
Peraza was 0-for-7 with a hit by pitch prior to that double, and it came at a good time: Varland, who was making his MLB debut, had sent the Yankees eight up, eight down prior to Peraza’s hit.
