Add Yoan Aybar to the list of players who were Yankees fully, or mostly, in name only.

The Yankees announced Thursday that the left-hander had been claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox, ending Aybar’s quick tenure in the organization.

Aybar had been claimed off waivers from Colorado on March 20, and the Yankees tried to place him on waivers this week to outright him off the 40-man roster; however, the White Sox claimed him, so the lefty, who spent last season at Double-A, is headed to the Windy City, and the Yankees now have an open spot on their 40-man roster.

The 24-year-old lefty, a converted outfielder, has posted a 5.06 ERA in 110 relief appearances over three seasons with the Red Sox (2018-19) and Rockies (2021). He was designated for assignment by Colorado on March 18 when they signed Kris Bryant.
