Evan: Yankee Stadium feels like a 'morgue' with no hope for future

Watching the game unfold in the Bronx on Tuesday night, Evan said the atmosphere was among the darkest he has seen at Yankee Stadium in a long, long time.

“Last night at Yankee Stadium was a freaking morgue,” Evan said. “It was depression. The loudest Yankee Stadium got were booing, or chants of ‘Fire Brian Cashman.’”

With the offense once again struggling, high-priced free agent Carlos Rodon struggling, and Brian Cashman struggling to answer how the Yankees can turn things around after a mainly stagnant trade deadline, Evan said the Yankees had taken a steep fall from grace, and there doesn’t seem to be a way out any time soon.

“Their trade deadline sucked,” Evan said. “Their roster isn’t any good, and the fans and the locker room last night kind of performed the way the front office did, which is, ‘We’re dead.’ You look at this team, now and next year, and I don’t know where the hell the hope comes from.

“It’s a sad state, because it’s not only bad for the next two months, where you’re sold on DJ LeMahieu turning his career around…or Giancarlo Stanton isn’t late on every fastball, or Anthony Rizzo becomes a baseball player again…it’s not Yankee-like.”
