Yankee Stadium to return to full capacity on Friday

The Yankees will be able to host a packed house on Friday night for the first time since game five of the 2019 ALCS.

The team announced on Tuesday that the stadium is returning to full capacity on June 18 against the A’s, labeling it as “Reopening Day.” Tickets through July 4 are currently on sale.

New York has been welcoming back fans in a limited capacity since Opening Day after no fans were in the Bronx during the shortened 2020 season. But with vaccination numbers increasing and COVID-19 numbers decreasing, capacity has begun to grow for live events, both indoor and outdoor, throughout the state.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that New York had reached 70 percent vaccination rates among adult residents, and is lifting nearly all COVID-19 restrictions throughout the state of New York.
