Aaron Boone on Josh Donaldson: 'He's kind of borne the brunt of this, for some reason'

The Yankees have once again shaken up their lineup, desperate for any kind of spark offensively as they try to avoid a sweep, but Josh Donaldson is still batting sixth and manning the hot corner in game four.

Donaldson, who suffered through another multi-strikeout game on Saturday, was already dropped from fifth to sixth in the order, but there was no thought of doing that again, said Aaron Boone.

“I dropped him a little yesterday,” Boone said. “But no.”

Donaldson told reporters after game three that he didn’t feel he was “that bad” at the plate lately, and Boone agrees.

“We've struggled as a group,” Boone said. “We've all struggled. JD's been getting on base. He's kind of borne the brunt of this, for some reason. We've got to get it going as a group.”

As Boone noted, Donaldson’s .375 OBP is third best on the Yankees this postseason, though of course, the bats have set the bar painfully low in nearly every statistical category. But Donaldson is batting just an even .200 with one extra-base hit and 13 strikeouts this postseason.
