Aaron Judge’s 60th home run didn’t just put the Yankee slugger into exclusive company with the likes of Babe Ruth and Roger Maris.
Judge’s ninth-inning blast on Tuesday night also means that he has put himself in the lead for the triple crown, and award that hasn’t been won since Miguel Cabrera in 2012.
Heading into Wednesday’s action with a .316 batting average, Judge has now overtaken Xander Bogaerts and Luis Arraez for the league lead in that category, while sitting comfortably ahead in home runs and RBI. It will come down to batting average to see if Judge can claim an award that only Cabrera has won since 1967.
No Yankee has won the award since Mickey Mantle in 1956.
