Aaron Judge came just feet away from changing the Yankees’ fortunes in game two of the ALCS, flying out to the right field wall on a ball that would have been a home run only at Yankee Stadium, keeping the score at 3-2 Astros instead of giving the Yanks a 4-3 lead.

Aaron Boone said the team’s fortunes likely would have changed if the roof was closed at Minute Maid Park.

“Who would have thought, I think the roof open kind of killed us,” Boone said. “I think it's a 390 [foot] ball…when I went out to take Sevy out, we noticed with Tucker’s ball…the wind was blowing across like that. I think Judgey’s is a homer every time. I didn’t think he smoked it, like a no-doubter, but it felt like his homers to right.”

The Astros seemed to agree, as Houston catcher Martin Maldonado told MLB Network’s Jon Morosi that he was thankful the roof was open, unlike in game one, acknowledging that it could have played a part in Judge’s ball staying in the park.

“I felt it in my heart,” Maldonado said. “I was like, ‘Thank God the roof is open today.’”
