Aaron Judge 'not at all' focused on chasing individual Yankee history

Aaron Judge is officially on Roger Maris watch, at least when it comes to everyone but himself.

Sure, the Yankee slugger is already at 41 home runs with two months to play, but he is more focused on the Yankees’ magic number to clinch the best record in the American League than the number to clinch the most single-season home runs in franchise history.

“Not at all,” Judge said when asked if he thought about his individual numbers and their historical significance. “I’m not saying not at all, but like I’ve said a thousand times, I'm focused on winning baseball games right now. The stats and stuff like that, we can talk about at the end of the year.

“The team’s been doing great. We’re in first place. That’s the most important thing.”

Asked if talking about chasing history and putting up MVP numbers made him uncomfortable, Judge said that wasn’t a difficult part of the job.

“Not at all, we play for the Yankees,” Judge said. “I have a thousand cameras in my face right now. It’s part of playing here in New York. It’s nothing new. I’ve still got a job to do and helping this team win.”
