Aaron Boone answered the opening question of his postgame press conference before it was even asked.
The Yankee manager didn’t have to hear the question. He knew it was going to be about his superstar Aaron Judge.
“He’s amazing,” Boone said immediately after settling in behind the microphone. “He’s just doing some really special things, obviously. Forty one, with a grand slam with the cherry on top there, just more great at-bats.”
Judge hit two home runs and robbed one in the outfield in another day at the office for the Yankee superstar, who now sits at 41 home runs with two months to go in the season.
While Judge chases Roger Maris’ illustrious 61 home runs, his teammates will continue to sit back and marvel at what they’re seeing.
“Historical, right?” Gerrit Cole said. “I haven’t seen anything quite like this this much, from anybody really. I don’t think I’ve every been on a team with someone who hit 40 home runs, and it’s only July. I’m rooting for him.
“I wish I could have my phone on the bench like the fans who take a video of every one of his at-bats…Steady dose of amazingness every day.”
