Boomer & Gio: Aaron Judge is perfect athlete to hold 'clean' home run record

Aaron Judge was front and center for a storybook night under the baseball spotlight on Wednesday, hitting his 61st home run of the season to pull into a tie with Roger Maris for the Yankee and American League record.

If you ask Boomer and Gio, it couldn’t have happened to a more suitable star.

“He’s the most celebrated athlete in New York for sure, maybe even the country,” Gio said.

“If you could hand-pick a guy to have the ‘clean’ record, if you will, for home runs, it would be Aaron Judge…Last night was just a great baseball night all around.”

Judge’s magical season now have seven games left to potentially surpass Maris and stand alone in Yankee history, which Boomer and Gio agree would be a fitting honor for a Yankee who was seemingly born to be an all-time great for one of the most iconic franchises in all of sports.

“The only way you can script his season better is if it’s game seven of the World Series in the bottom of the ninth and he hits a two-run home run to win the World Series,” Boomer said.

“He couldn’t be any more perfect of a guy to root for…I would like to think every baseball fan was rooting for him because of who he is. He’s humble and he knows how good he is.”
