Aaron Judge made a strong bid for a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the eight, but Astros right fielder Kyle Tucker made a leaping catch at the wall to turn a batted ball with an expected batting average of .910 into the second out of an eventual scoreless inning.

Instead of grabbing a 4-3 lead, the Yanks still trailed 3-2, still waiting for a big hit to wake up a lifeless offense.

The brutal irony of Judge’s flyout was that according to Statcast, the ball would have left the park in only one stadium across Major League Baseball.

That ballpark? Yankee Stadium, of course.

If the Yankees had secured home field advantage and game two was being played in the Bronx, Judge would have had his third home run of the postseason. Instead, it was a loud out.
