Aaron Judge has been a Yankee his entire career, has always talked about the privilege of putting on the pinstripes, and has experienced being a fan favorite in the Bronx.
But does any of that matter to him as he enters free agency?
“Yankee fans assume that he does, and that he’ll wind up in Monument Park,” Gio said. “But I don’t know if Aaron Judge really cares about that?”
Judge has been seen as a clear candidate to be the Yankees’ first captain since Derek Jeter if he re-signs with New York, which would put him among illustrious Yankee company. But Boomer and Gio agree that it won’t be enough to keep him here if the Yankees allow another team to outbid them.
“If he’s getting the same amount of money and term from the Yankees as the Dodgers, or the Giants…then I’d say yeah, definitely, that might be the game changer for him,” Boomer said. “But if it’s a full year or $45 million extra, he’s not gonna come here. He’s gonna go somewhere else.”
