Aaron Judge reacts to viral video of young fan being given home run ball: 'That's what's special about this game'

Aaron Judge provided one of the key hits of the night on Tuesday, a no-doubt solo home run to tie the game in the seventh inning and help the Yanks get to the Toronto bullpen after spending much of the night trying to figure out Alek Manoah.

But the best moment of that titanic blast game right afterward, in a now viral video that shows a Blue Jays fan catch the home run ball, then hand it to a child wearing a Judge shirsey in the left field seats. The boy almost immediately broke into tears and hugged the man for his selfless gesture.

Judge hadn’t seen the video yet when he spoke to reporters after the game, but he was visibly touched when he heard about what happened.

“That’s passion right there,” Judge said. “That’s Yankee fans right there. Yankee fans are all around the world. They’re passionate about this game. To have a little one like that, he’s starting the right way.”

Once Judge heard the entire story, that included the Blue Jays fan gifting the child the home run ball, Judge was even more moved, immediately breaking out into a smile.

“No way,” Judge said. “That’s what’s special about this game. It doesn’t matter what jersey you wear. Everybody’s fans. Everyone appreciates this game. That’s pretty cool. I gotta check out that video. That’s pretty special.”
