NEW YORK (WFAN.com) --  The New York Yankees have acquired left-handed starter James Paxton from the Seattle Mariners.

Highly rated pitching prospect Justus Sheffield, right-hander Erik Swanson and outfielder Dom Thompson-Williams were traded to Seattle.

Paxton went 11-6 with a 3.76 ERA last season. He is a power pitcher and struck out 208 batters.

The 30-year-old holds a career 41-26 record and a 3.42 lifetime ERA.

Paxton enters arbitration year three this offseason. He can become a free agent after the 2020 season.
