The Yankees bullpen, and the pitching staff as a whole, has been lights out through the first week of the season, and they have another reinforcement on the way.

Lefty Justin Wilson has been activated from the 10-day IL and is available for Friday’s series opener against the Rays, the team announced Friday morning. Wilson had to leave a spring outing with shoulder tightness, but after an MRI revealed no structural damage, he resumed throwing shortly afterward.

Manager Aaron Boone said Wilson has been throwing and ready to go, and was only waiting on his 10-day stint to end before becoming a bullpen option.

The return of Wilson gives the Yanks another southpaw reliever while Zack Britton continues to rehab from surgery to remove a bone chip in his left elbow. Wilson tossed 19.2 innings with the Mets last season, pitching to a 3.66 ERA.

The 2021 season marks his second stint with the Yankees after throwing 61 innings in pinstripes back in 2015.

There was no corresponding move upon activating Wilson, with Mike King being optioned to the alternate site earlier this week.
