Yankees approaching miserable franchise record with latest shutout loss

The Yankees’ disappearing act by the lineup continued on Monday night, as the Bombers were blanked for the third game in a row, this time a 4-0 loss to the Angels in the Bronx.

It marked the third straight game that the Yanks were held scoreless, the first time the Yanks suffered that fate since September of 2016, when the team was out of the playoff race.

The Yanks have now been shut out in 29 straight innings dating back to the Red Sox series in Fenway, eight away from a franchise record set way back in 1908 when they were still the Highlanders.

The slumping bats have generated only five runs in their last six games, a lowly mark matched only two other times in franchise history (1908 and 1968). Meanwhile, the Angels become just the second team ever to blank the Yanks in back-to-back games at the new Yankee Stadium, the only other team being the Blue Jays in 2015.

The Yanks entered the night leading the league in team OPS, but that mighty offense has gone cold in a hurry, including Aaron Judge, who was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the losing effort.

The Yankees will look to avoid being shut out four games in a row for the first time in franchise history on Wednesday night when they host the Halos again, the third game of a four-game set.
