The Blue Jays traded outfielder Randal Grichuk to the Rockies on Thursday for Raimel Tapia and cash. Was this the best move of the Yankees’ offseason?
Yankee Twitter certainly reacted as such, and for good reason. The 30-year-old has been a pinstriped killer in his four years with Toronto, clubbing a ridiculous 17 home runs in 64 career games against the Bombers. He even continued his torrid pace in spring training, smacking a grand slam against the Yanks on Tuesday before he was mercifully shipped out of the AL East, as his numbers against New York include a .507 slugging percentage and nine doubles.
So, despite numerous upgrades for the Blue Jays, including the additions of Kevin Gausman and Matt Chapman, do the Yankees now have the upper hand against their divisional foes with Grichuk gone? The overwhelming social media sentiment seemed to support that belief.
