Yimi Garcia spoiled Yusei Kikuchi’s gem on Thursday by surrendering a game-tying three-run blast to Giancarlo Stanton in the bottom of the sixth on Tuesday night.
Two pitches later, he drilled Josh Donaldson in the arm, and, surprisingly, turned out to be his last.
As Donaldson removed his gear and walked to first, the Yankee dugout erupted in anger, with Gerrit Cole, Aaron Judge, and others yelling and approaching the railing, seemingly ready to hop over if things escalated. The umpires convened, ejected Garcia, and it was quickly the Toronto dugout’s turn to fume.
A bit confused. Umpires tossed Yimi Garcia after he hit Josh Donaldson with a pitch in the 6th inning of a tied game. Quick toss. Blue Jays players/coaches understandably going nuts for a while.

Garcia couldn’t believe the ruling, and manager Charlie Montoyo rushed out to argue the call, clearly in disbelief that his pitcher would be thrown out of the game, without warning, for hitting Donaldson to put the go-ahead run on base.
Pitching coach Pete Walker was also ejected, and after a Jonathan Loaisiga pitch came up and in to Bo Bichette, Montoyo was ejected for barking from the dugout.
Many were surprised at the quick hook, but the Yankees were clearly ticked off.
