C-Mac: Yankees made 'terrible' Bryce Harper decision, but it's not on Giancarlo Stanton

After watching Bryce Harper blast two home runs for the Phillies in a pivotal game three on Wednesday night, adding to his postseason legend, C-Mac couldn’t help but wonder what life would have been like as a Yankee fan had the lefty slugger wound up in New York.

“They blew it. It’s a terrible, horrible decision,” C-Mac said of the Yankees seemingly not even entertaining the idea of signing Harper before the 2019 season. “I didn’t understand it then, and I don’t understand it now.

“Bryce Harper really felt like it fit.”

However, C-Mac doesn’t want it to become a bashing of the Giancarlo Stanton trade, which at the time seemed like a good move to acquire the reigning National League MVP.

“I don’t know if that’s fair to say,” C-Mac said. “They had a hell of a lot of a better chance, and Hal and Cash probably look into it more if Stanton was on the team, but I don’t know if it’s just that. He had just hit 59 home runs. He is built like a Greek God…Stanton was a 59-home run MVP who played 155 games in the outfield. There was no reason to think he was going to become a DH who can’t move.

“Hindsight being 20/20, I wish they didn’t do it and signed Bryce Harper. But it’s just easy to say that now. They were doing what we want them to do. Stack the deck. They were one win away from a World Series, and they went out and got the MVP. It’s hard to complain about that.”
