Boomer & Gio: What would you do if you caught Aaron Judge's 62nd home run ball?

A caller raised the question to Boomer and Gio on Tuesday that many are likely wondering at this point.

If you were the lucky fan to catch Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run ball, what would you do with it?

“I would definitely want money in return for it if I was just a regular dude,” Gio said. “There’s no doubt about it. I don’t need your signed jerseys or cleats, I just need cash. Tax free…or I’d put it up for auction and really get things going.

“If you’re someone who is very secure in your life and you’re a baseball purist and you think it’s the coolest thing to give it back to Aaron Judge or the Baseball Hall of Fame – most people would hang on to it, especially in this age of sports memorabilia, and get top dollar for it. I wouldn’t blame anybody for that.”

The ball that sails into the seats off Judge’s bat for the 62nd time this season, assuming Judge can hit three more between now and the end of the season, will carry tremendous value regardless of the debate over what the “real” home run record is, and Boomer knows that piece of memorabilia will mean a potential big payday for whoever is on the receiving end.

“It’s like hitting the lottery if you’re one of those people,” Boomer said.

“What I would do, I would go to Aaron Judge and say ‘Look, you sign this, we’ll split the proceeds 50/50, and then you can write a check to charity. It would be worth more money if it was signed, right?”
