Yankees make flurry of moves, send down Miguel Andujar, DJ LeMahieu avoids IL

The Yankees have made a flurry of moves ahead of their series finale against the Rays, and fortunately for the Bombers, none of them include moving DJ LeMahieu to the IL.

The versatile infielder, who has been nursing a toe/foot injury, told reporters on Wednesday that he is available off the bench and expects to be in the starting lineup against the Blue Jays on Thursday night. Meanwhile, as previously reported, Oswaldo Cabrera and Estevan Florial have been called up from Triple-A, while Miguel Andujar and Tim Locastro have both been optioned to Scranton.

Reliever Ron Marinaccio has also been added to the big-league roster, taking the place of Clay Holmes, who has been placed on the 15-day IL in an expected move after the struggling reliever told reporters on Tuesday that he has been battling a back issue.

Manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Wednesday that he is “hopeful” Holmes will only miss the minimum 15 days.

The call-ups will get a shot right away, as Florial is starting in center field and Cabrera at third base.
