Cubs Twitter gets roasted after tweeting about home-run hungry Yankee fans

The Cubs are losing on the field to start Saturday night’s game, and they’re losing the Twitter battle as well.

After Aaron Judge blasted a home run to open up the scoring in the first inning, Giancarlo Stanton lifted a high fly ball to deep center field but it was caught by a leaping Christopher Morel at the top of the wall.

The Cubs Twitter account tweeted video of the catch with the caption, “Yankees fans think everything is a home run.”

Shortly after, everything the Yankees hit actually was a home run.

His next time up, Stanton mashed a solo shot that went 119.8 mph off the bat, the hardest hit ball of the season, and Gleyber Torres followed with a homer to right center. In the fifth, Friday’s hero Jose Trevino went deep, and Judge hit another homer shortly after. Former Cub Anthony Rizzo also joined the home run party with a solo shot of his own before the fifth inning mercifully came to an end.

That was six runs on six solo home runs for the Yankees through five innings.

Naturally, the Yankees Twitter account and many others had to poke fun at the Cubs for their tweet earlier in the game.
