Speaking with the Dan Le Batard Show at the American Century Championship golf tournament on Thursday, former Yankee pitcher David Wells blasted MLB commissioner Rob Manfred for the league’s rule changes implemented this season.

“Manfred, this guy’s a tool,” Wells said. “He’s probably the biggest tool of all commissioners. To me, for him to change these games, I think he hates baseball. He’s trying to implement all these BS rules.”

It certainly seems like some baseball fans agree with Wells, as Manfred was booed mercilessly when he announced the final pick of this week’s MLB Draft.

“I don’t know if anybody likes Rob Manfred,” Gio said. “He’s getting his ass booed during the draft.”

However, those boos were likely for other reasons, as MLB’s new rules have unquestionably sped up the pace of games, and have been largely well received.

“Rob Manfred’s rule changes have worked,” Boomer said. “[Wells is] an old school baseball guy who is having a hard time.”
