As advertising patches continue to grow in pro sports, one major question is if the Yankees will agree to a deal that will see such patches on their iconic pinstriped uniforms.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, the question is a matter of when, not if.
Per Marchand, the Yankees will not have a sponsorship patch on their sleeves on Opening Day, like other teams, and may not even have them by the All-Star break or this season at all. But the assumption is that, eventually, perhaps in 2024, they will.
The holdup? The team is waiting for the right offer from the right brand.
Advertising patches would see righty hitters, like Aaron Judge, sporting the patch on his left sleeve so it faces the cameras when he is at the plate, and vice versa for left-handed hitters. The Red Sox already have a patch deal with MassMutual, and while the Mets don’t currently have one, they are expected to soon.
