Keith: Yankee fans shouldn't get hopes up about all-in push this offseason

As the Yankees pack up for the winter, many hope their worst season in over 30 years and a reported upcoming audit will lead to big changes, and big spending, to ensure that a season like 2023 doesn’t happen again.

Keith says don’t hold your breath, as this Yankees regime doesn’t operate like ones of old.

“Don’t get your hopes up, Yankee fans. Don’t have your Christmas list together,” Keith said. “Santa Claus isn’t real. Santa Claus was real when we were kids in the late 90s…we need to grow up.

“In growing up, I realized what we had, when the Yankees dominated the league, what goes around comes around. The Yankees aren’t set on that coming back around. They’re not gonna do every single thing in their power to make sure they’re at the top of the league.”

Keith lost faith in the front office’s desire to go all in after only adding Carlos Rodon to a team that was swept out of the ALCS last year with no offense against the Astros, and doesn’t believe this year’s embarrassment of missing the playoffs in an expanded field will spark major additions.

“I’m not expecting the Yankees to get to the World Series next year,” Keith said. “They should be trying to. When you cut corners, that’s like half-assing it to me.

“The Yankees no longer use ‘Chase for 28’ as a slogan anymore. They’re not chasing that anymore. That’s not a thing anymore. I don’t know what they’re chasing now.”
