Nestor Cortes mania in the Bronx has hit a fever pitch.
One night after the crafty lefty blanked the Rangers in 7.1 shutout innings, carrying a no-hitter into the eighth, fans came to Yankee Stadium sporting fake mustaches to honor the sudden ascent of Cortes, who is now atop the league leaders with a 1.41 ERA.
Cortes obviously wasn’t pitching on Tuesday night, having just turned in his brilliant outing the day before, but he is clearly turning into a fan favorite in the Bronx.
