Gerrit Cole wasn’t in top form in the second inning of Friday night’s start against the Royals.
After the Yankee ace struck out Hunter Dozier swinging, he began his walk to the Yankee dugout, only nobody on the team followed him.
That’s because it was only the second out of the inning.
Cole quickly realized his mistake and turned around, while Luis Severino comically reminded his rotation mate of how many outs there actually were.
Cole quickly locked back in anyway, striking out Nick Pratto on the next at-bat to really end the inning this time.
