Gerrit Cole tied an unfortunate playoff record in Tuesday night’s ALDS opener.

The Yankees’ game one starter served up a solo home run to Guardians rookie Steven Kwan in the top of the third inning, marking the seventh straight time Cole has allowed at least one home run in a postseason start.

That mark equaled the MLB record, which Cole now shares with CC Sabathia, whose steak ran in the first three years of his Yankee tenure from 2009-11, and Randy Johnson, who allowed a homer in seven straight from 1995-01.

Kwan had homered just six times in 563 at-bats during the 2022 season, but Cole has been particularly susceptible to the long ball in recent weeks.
