Giancarlo Stanton may have just left a vapor trail behind his missile home run.
After Aaron Judge homered in the first inning, Stanton doubled the Yankees’ lead with a 119.8 rocket that banged off the face of the second deck at Yankee Stadium, a 436-foot blast that was hit so hard it ricocheted back onto the field.
Stanton has long been a Statcast darling, and his home run on Saturday night was the hardest hit ball of the season, edging out Shohei Ohtani, and it was also the fourth hardest home run hit in the Statcast era, which began in 2015.
Two of the other three belong to Stanton, and the other belongs to his teammate Judge.
