The Yankee offense has been in a funk throughout this postseason, escaping the ALDS in five games thanks to stout pitching and a few timely home runs, and there are plenty of culprits behind the team’s collective slump.
But one Bomber bat, aside from Josh Donaldson of course, has really ticked off Brandon Tierney.
“I can’t take it with Gleyber Torres anymore,” BT said. “The guy swings from his heels like you’re Albert Pujols when he was 25 years old. What are you doing, dude?”
Torres had typically been a strong playoff performer, particularly in 2019 and 2020, but so far this postseason, he has not been able to find much success at all at the plate. In 29 plate appearances, Torres is batting just .148 with a .355 OPS and not one extra-base hit, yet he will be batting cleanup in a must-win game three on Saturday.
“What are the repercussions from the Yankees?” BT said. “They seem to accept some of their failures that are repeated, which drives me nuts.”
