Hal Steinbrenner on analytics 'collaboration,' bringing back more bunting in 2024

Steinbrenner, via Greg Joyce of the New York Post, said he was “very comfortable” with the medical staff, and is comfortable with Aaron Boone as manager after talking with several people around the organization, including Andy Pettitte and Nick Swisher.

“The first question I asked was, ‘Should Aaron Boone be our manager next season?’” Steinbrenner said. “I talked to players, some ex-players like Pettitte and Swisher, who spent a lot of time in the clubhouse this year…they all came to the same conclusion, which is that Aaron Boone is a good manager, and should be the manager in 2024.”

As for the analytics company that will be observing how the Yankees operate, Steinbrenner revealed that it will be a “year-long” process, but is not the “audit” that many believed it to be.

“It’s a collaboration, a year-long collaboration,” Steinbrenner said. “We’re going to look at their systems and their process in how to analyze data and make decisions. We’re then gonna take all of that, what we learned, and compare it with what we do.

“There could very well be some areas where we feel we need to do better and change.”
