Brandon Tierney listened through Hal Steinbrenner’s interview with the YES Network on Monday night, and he came away as frustrated as many Yankee fans after hearing about the team’s untimely injuries and other familiar refrains like praising the team’s organizational process.
“He says he’s not gonna lean on the injuries, and proceeds to lean on the injuries, in a five-minute clip, three times,” BT said. “As he talked about this great tam that Cashman assembled and that was so dominant, he then goes on to reference that Andrew Benintendi was injured. If Cashman assembled such a great team, why did you have to trade for Benintendi? The amazing part is that Benintendi wasn’t part of the great team that you’re telling us about.”
Safe to say BT isn’t a fan of Steinbrenner, the owner and overseer of a franchise that hasn’t reached the World Series in 13 years.
“I think he is well intentioned, I think he is a truly good soul. But I think when it comes to baseball, he’s lost. And he’s getting bad messaging,” BT said.
“He’s raving about player development. What in the world have they done? He actually has the gall to tell us - there’s really not much that he said that I believe.”
