The Yankees have reportedly found their new hitting coach, with multiple reports indicating it will be former three-time All-Star Sean Casey.

Casey, 49, is from nearby Willingboro, New Jersey, and last played in the big leagues in 2008 with the Red Sox, retiring at 34 years old. He enjoyed his prime with the Reds, where he made three All-Star teams across eight seasons. Over his 12-year career, Casey hit .302 with an .814 OPS, while hitting 130 home runs. His career-high in a season was 25 home runs in 1999.

Casey and Yankees manager Aaron Boone were teammates in Cincinnati, and, like Boone, will take the job without any prior big-league coaching experience, as he has been at MLB Network as an analyst.

Casey will replace Dillon Lawson, who was relieved of his duties after Sunday’s loss to the Cubs, sending the Yankees into the All-Star break one game out of a playoff spot while sporting one of the worst offenses in baseball since Aaron Judge went on the IL in early June.
