The Yankees are hoping they did not lose a key piece of their lineup as they cling onto the AL Wild Card lead.
Left-handed slugger Joey Gallo left Wednesday’s 6-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays after being hit by a pitch on his left hand in the seventh inning.
Gallo was unable to bat in the ninth inning due to the hit by pitch and is set to undergo X-rays on his hand.
“We’ll see what we have when we get that,” Aaron Boone said after the game. “He couldn’t hit, and we took him out of the game, so we’ll see what we have now that we’ll have X-rays and we’ll see what happens overnight.”

Gallo has not hit well since being traded to the Yankees at the end of July, posting a slash line of .159/.304/.420 but he has hit 13 home runs and drove in 21 RBI, proving to be a power threat in the middle of the lineup.
The Yankees lead the Boston Red Sox by just one game and the Blue Jays and Mariners trail the second wild-card spot by a game each and two games behind the Bombers with four games left to play.
The Yankees will play the Blue Jays again on Thursday before closing out the season with a three-game series against the AL East champion Tampa Bay Rays.
