Joey Gallo took a walk against a position player in the Yankees’ blowout win over the Pirates on Wednesday night, and come Thursday late afternoon, Craig Carton was ripping him apart for not swinging the bat.
"Joey Gallo does not deserve to wear the Yankees pinstripes,” Carton said during Thursday’s show. “He’s an embarrassment to the Yankee pinstripes. If Joey Gallo walked into Dick’s and said ‘I’d like to buy a Yankee jersey,’ the answer should be ‘No, you’re not allowed to.’ What a joke. The guy takes a walk from a second baseman…He's a clown.”
It’s not just the walk for Craig, it’s the lack of production, and even the no-doubt home run on Wednesday night before the free pass isn’t enough for Craig. He wants Gallo off the roster, and certainly not playing in meaningful games for the Yankees, whether he still wants to be with the team or not.
“Guess what Joey? It’s not up to you,” Craig said of Gallo potentially being traded. “There’s not a lot of room on the Yankee playoff roster for a guy that hits .180 and hits one home run a month. Sorry, you’re not playing postseason ball.”
